Quicksilver Connections

Quicksilver Connections Limited, Port Douglas was seeking an approval to support the establishment of a purpose-built Dive Centre to operate in conjunction with their existing facilities at the Port Douglas Marina.

Urban Sync were involved during the preliminary design phase to assist in developing a concept that met Quicksilvers’ intentions for the land regarding its operation whilst ensuring the design appropriately reflected the development objectives of the Douglas Shire Planning Scheme.

The proposed Dive Centre presents as a 2-story structure that supports:

  • Ground Floor:
    • A retail sales area: used for the sale of snorkelling and diving accessories, and other water sports equipment; as well as the servicing of dive equipment and re-filling of dive tanks; and
    • Dive Centre: general reception area, an office, workshop, amenities and general storage area.
  • First Floor:
    • Practical aspects of all dive courses, including three (3) training rooms, pool, equipment area, general storage, an office/workstation, and amenities.

The design concept also includes design features to complement the existing tourist precinct in which it is sited, counting a contemporary tropical façade, pool viewing features and on street improvements.
