(Taco Bell Cairns)

Taco Bell was a Code Assessable Development in the District Centre Zone of the CairnsPlan 2016 (Planning Scheme) located at 274 Mulgrave Road, Westcourt.
Urban Sync were engaged by Sentinel DFO Cairns Pty Ltd to seek the necessary statutory development approvals from Cairns Regional Council to support the establishment of a new drive through fast food outlet and subdivision. The project also required an approval from the Department of Main Roads (DTMR) through the State Assessment Referral Agency (SARA).

Urban Sync were engaged to:

  • Prepare a town planning report to obtain a Development Permit for a Material Change of Use (Food and Drink Outlet); and a Development Permit for Reconfiguring a Lot (1 lot into 4 Lots and Access Easements); and
  • lodging a Local Law Application for the signage associated with the proposed Taco Bell, specifically an ‘Illuminated Pylon Sign’, ‘Illuminated Directional Signs’, and ‘Wall Signs (Illuminated & Non-illuminated)’.
  • referral to the State Assessment Referral Agency (SARA) due to SARA Triggers (State controlled Road).
  • provide ongoing assistance to the applicant including coordinating a response to the Information Request issued by Cairns Regional Council.

The development applications were approved by council and Sentinel DFO celebrated the Taco Bell opening on the 9th of March 2021. Our senior town planner Matt Ingram completed all works necessary on time and within budget.
